Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), declared Monday that the long-awaited 5G spectrum auction in the nation will take place in April or May of this year.
He acknowledged the current delays in Pakistan’s implementation of 5G services while speaking at a ceremony that was attended by telecom authorities from Malaysia.
Representatives from Malaysian telecom, who have already made the switch from 5G to 5.5G, talked about their experiences putting the technology into practice.
The PTA chairman went on to say that Malaysia’s experience in introducing 5G services will be advantageous to Pakistan.
Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecom, stated during the same occasion that the country was moving closer to launching 5G because planning and consultations were well advanced.
The minister went on to say that the introduction of 5G in Pakistan will accelerate digital transformation and increase economic activity.
