Sindh Declares It Will Test Students for Drugs

Beginning on May 10, the Excise & Taxation Department will take enforcement action against unregistered automobiles, according to Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon. at addition, students at educational institutions will be subject to arbitrary drug testing.
Memon underlined at a press conference the importance of drug usage as a global problem that disproportionately affects young people. He emphasized the recent order issued by President Asif Zardari to tackle the drug problem in the province.
Memon praised the work being done in the current anti-drug operations by several government agencies, especially that of Home Minister Ziaul Hassan. He told parents to be on the lookout for his plans to open new rehab facilities.
Memon highlighted recent achievements, stating that 1,550 people had been taken into custody and large amounts of drugs had been found.

He emphasized the need to handle drug-positive student tests in a private manner and promised tough punishment for drug suppliers.
Sharjeel Memon announced that, with regard to car registration, unregistered cars would be impounded as of May 10. In addition to warning of penalties for late car tax payments, he recommended expeditious registration plate collecting.
In response to queries on a lack of employees in the drugs control division, Memon stated that the hiring procedure was delayed because of a court stay order, which infuriated job searchers.
